Title: Any plumbers on the site?
Post by: berg on February 24, 2015, 09:07:19 am
Can you have a power shower if you have a combi boiler? Do you just need some some of filter device instead of the built in pump?

Thanks  :drinking:

I've never heard of anyone running one from a combi boiler, it might work if you have a really high-end combi with a decent hot water flow rate, but they usually require an unvented 'mains pressure' hot water cylinder, or self-contained booster pump with heating function.

Have you considered a thermostatic electric shower?

You can't  generally run an electric power shower off a combi , you just need a thermostatic shower mixer plumbed in to hot from combi and cold mains ,  this will give you the powerful shower you need!

A power shower only needs the cold mains. So has nothing to do with the combi.

Infact it's a good idea for when your combi breaks down (and it will) because you will still have hot water.

No, an electric shower only needs a cold mains feed. A power shower takes a balanced hot and cold supply. The pump inside a power shower wouldn't last long under the high pressure of a combi. People always get confused between a electric shower and a power shower as they look similar (white box on the wall).

I have an Aqualisa Rise shower, they do different versions depending what sort of system you have (high pressure or gravity) and well worth a look!!
