Yes but there's better products out there, for £20 buy a tin of collonite.

Can any wax/sealent be used on wheels?
I know it's a bit off topic but may help OP, I'm wondering for when I take my wheels off and give them a propa clean aswell.
Also mignt be worth posting this in the detailing section, and asking @xjay1337 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7542) as I'm pretty sure detailing is his job? If it's not he knows what he's talking about!

PS does tagging a username alert them to this thread?

Yup 99% sure he's a detailer, me too .  Any wax can be used on wheels but the wheel specific ones are normally better at handling the higher temps that the wheels  have to deal with.

If your going to take the time to remove and clean the wheels properly then I would suggest a ceramic coating Gtechniq C5 is the best. The only reason K9 can't use ceramic is because on polished finishes it can dull the finish and leave it smeary so using a wax is a safer bet.

@dansmith180 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9450) will this be good to use? http://www.performancemotorcare.com/car-cleaning-product-news/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/New_Autoglym_Super_Resin_Polish1.jpg (http://www.performancemotorcare.com/car-cleaning-product-news/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/New_Autoglym_Super_Resin_Polish1.jpg)

That will do nothing.

Any of these would be good.

I try to be lol

As Dan says, some wheel specific waxes are better - that being said everyone goes for Poorboys and it's CRAP.
FK1000p is probably going to be your best bet for the money. Very cheap.

However as Dan says - a ceramic coating would be best for durability and protection.
Gtechniq C1/2(?)/5 , same product I believe but all do a good job

I am sided towards Car Pro stuff of course but it's fairly similar at the end of the day. I will be putting CQUK on my new wheels.
I would have gone for DLUX but we don't have enough spare for me to use "willy nilly" haha

I did use CQUK on my polished lip and Merc faces and it didn't cloud them... although I was very very careful to ensure that I would in effect wipe them without any dirt coming up on a cloth as any metal polishing is a dirty business.... so after polishing they were wiped down many timest with Eraser

For whatever reason the image is buggered but you get the idea.

I have found that using some waxes can dull the finish... I found this happened with Collinite 476s unless you buffed it off exactly at the right time..  :sad1:

Either way, plenty of stuff on Elite's website if you wanted something :)

I'd try a ceramic coating tbh... it's stainless steel isn't it.. so should be fine...

at end of day if it makes it hazy you can give them a light polish and it'll come off anyway.

Carbon collective platinum
Cqaurtz Flux
Gtechniq C5

These are all ceramic coatings. From what I've used I find Gtechniq C5 or C1 (same thing) to be the best.

They are not waxes
You have waxes which contain natural ingredients, usually carnuba, bees wax, etc lots of other bits
You have sealants which are manufactured chemicals
coatings generally cure to form a "shell"...and are far more resistant to minor scratches, bird droppings, and prevent more dirt sticking to the paint to begin with meaning you can basically jet fresh dirt off revealing a nearly perfectly clean surface. a weekly wash will be much easier and easier.

Here's some Cquartz UK that was poured into a lid and left to harden. This is similar to other ceramic coatings on the  market such as Gtechniq c1. (I'm not getting into a debate about which one is better  :signLOL: :signLOL:)

Haha, that's a debate that could go on for a while, either way if you use Cqaurtz or C1 it will last about 600 times as long as super resin polish
