How long did it take for you to find the right car? :fighting2:
I've been looking for nearly a month now and still nothing. Only seen a couple that would interest me but they seem to be really far, Like Scotland or Past London... :signLOL:
-
first one I saw!
Saw it, drove it, bought it :driver: :driver: :driver: :driver:
never looked back
-
I went on Auto Trader in the morning after yet another drive way date with the diesel.
By 1pm I went to view my GTI.
By 3pm I was driving home.
Haven't regretted it since. :happy2:
-
Took me about 6 weeks.
Changed my criteria, but in doing so, ended up with a better car!
-
First one I saw as it was the only grey one for sale at the time in manual and 3 door
-
I was looking for about 5 or 6 weeks was about to buy 1 and decided to have a quick look at another up the country and I'm so glad I did, €500 cheaper and 20 times better than the first 1 I was looking at

I have been casually looking for about 3-4 months and when I finally sold my old car it only took me about a week to find it, viewed it and bought it on the spot. :happy2:

1st one i saw. got a good price on my old car as a part exchange. never looked back since.
-
Couple of months maybe but only looked at 3 cars. A grey GTI, Red ED30 and my Black ED30.
-
I'd been keeping an eye out for a few weeks, spotted it on here on a Thursday, paid a deposit without seeing it did the 450 mile round trip to collect it on the Sat.
-
Looked at 3, first one was scrap, 2nd dsg was beautiful & fully loaded but was 5k over due the dsg 2nd service so went with the 3rd one which was manual with no xenons or leather but full years platinum warranty. Glad I did too. Took me just shy of a month.

I lost count me, the first one I went to see was was in March 2012 and was the most dodgy garage I've ever stepped foot in so left that one and it wasn't till July 2013 the next year when I when to view the second one and that's the one I bought. So that's over a year I was looking on autotrader every night for the one, it had to be white 3door was going to travel anywhere to get it but the right one funny enough one popped up in Newcastle not far from where I live which was the first white one I'd seen even remotely close. Then a week later I went to ibiza, was a great month that one :drinking: first thing I did was take it out when I got home.
-
Waited 3 months for the right spec and colour.
-
Took me around 6 months to find the 'right' car. PITA to be honest. Travelled around 500 miles to view what was described to me as near enough mint car and it turned out to be in shocking condition, lesson learnt!
Keep looking, you will find the car you want. Just don't rush in and buy any old cr@p would be my advice. :happy2:

Absolutely months. I wanted white or shadow blue, leather and DSG. I test-drove three and looked at four or five more. I walked away from a perfect but over-priced one having travelled 400 miles to view it, then went back two weeks later and offered a cheeky bid. I can't tell you how pleased I was when it was accepted! It was worth it, too: I've kept it for four years.
-
Spent around 4-6 months waiting/looking for the exact one I wanted. Never found it so bought this one. At least she NOW has xenons, MFSW and a few toys!

what are you looking for?
-
3-4 months looking everyday to find a blue car with tartan trim, dsg and 3 doors with sensible mileage.
-
Took me about a year or so! spent the whole time looking too!
Saw plenty of sheds and a few nice but pricey ones, glad I waited, particularly reading some of the horror stories on here

When I brought the edition 30 was looking for about 5-6 months. I brought around the time when once one came up for sale at a dealership it was sold the same day! I wanted white to start with but I think it would have taken me another year to find one

One weekend, believe it or not!
I had a few cars lined up on the VW network - first was a Pirelli 5-dr at Oxford VW - was ok, but too much money for a very basic, no option car, with a door lock that didn't work. Honestly - you'd think a car on the forecourt would be without fault...
I then had planned to see an ED30 at VW Milton Keynes, but that sold before I could see it. So after that I went on to my car at Cardiff VW.
Thought I'd made a huge mistake when I got there on the Saturday as the car wasn't anywhere to be seen on the forecourt. After confusing a few sales staff, they found it and advised it only came in on part-ex the Friday night before, and was in the car park out back! No prep had taken place, and was absolutely filthy.
Still, must have been about the fastest sale they've had on a used car. Think I fell on my feet - it was properly grubby and well used - but could see through that, but I now appreciate all the options it has, that I didn't realise at the time!

As it took longer than antisapted to sell the Passat i missed out on three MK6 Golf GTD with exactly the spec i wanted, once i was able to buy there was absolutely nothing on the market. The one i ended up buying i had discounted as it was outside of my price range, i left an offer with the garage and 2 hours later they agreed so i had the car moved from their Milton Keynes garage to Southampton and the deal was done. I would have preferred Candy white but couldn't justify the colour premium.
