Title: Non genuine wing mirror issue - power folding
Post by: Gazza747 on March 01, 2015, 07:57:12 pm
I have replaced my power fold mirror on my mk6 golf with a non genuine one. If I turn the knob to fold the mirrors in, one folds in and the other folds out! Also when the replacement folds out it's not 'locked' in place so it's obviously not right.

I got a refund and tried another supplier but it's the same make and has the same problem. I did take it to a local Ford garage and they said it was the mirror at fault and it didn't need coding in or anything. I just wanted to check incase I'm missing something or is it just faulty non-genuine parts?

Could wires be the wrong way or mechanism/motor be upside down or anything?

As above says you need to swap over two wires numbers 14 and 15 on the 16 pin connector on the door control module plug.

This^^   Its what happens if the mirror was intended for a LHD car. Signals are reversed

The power fold now works
The puddle light doesn't come on when I unlock the door but the main thing is the power fold works

I just checked and the indicator doesn't work either so maybe the other wires are wrong?

Possible that the folding action has pulled the wiring within the mirror?

Well I tried taking out the glass and all of a sudden the puddle light came on! Must have been a loose connection.

So now the puddle light and indicator work. I wonder if the heated glass works and I'm not sure if it has auto dimming or how that works.

I do have one question, I got a metal clip with it (now lost) that fits onto the back of the glass before you fit the glass. Does anybody know what that is for?? (pic below)
