Hi guys, just thought I would post a message as I've only just registered with the forum after following it for some time. I pick up my first MK5 GTI tomorrow and I can't wait! It's an 06 plate, 5 door in black with 90k miles and a load of added extras, I can't wait to start working on it to make it my own.
I'm sure I'll be on to ask questions soon enough! I will hopefully get better pictures up too once I have it home and cleaned up.

Welcome Adam, nice spec you got yourself. There is a few guys on here from N Ireland I am way down outside Enniskillen myself...enjoy :driver:

Thanks, yeah will keep an eye out for people from NI! Seems like one of the higher spec ones, previous owner definitely looked after it! :)

Any future plans for yours?
Josh

Hi ! :happy2:
Welcome along, there seems to be a lot more N.Ireland members on here now, and quite a few from Carrickfergus :driver:
Remember it's a slippery slope
-
Love it Josh, lovely example you have! I ordered a revision D DV to replace the old one that I have in there at the minute as it feels like it is loosing boost slightly, hopefully make the car a lot smoother! Do you know if this is easy to fit?

Thanks Adam, cant wait for the better weather so I can spend some time cleaning it!
I've been thinking about changing my mine, think I might be loosing boost as well but wont know until I have a look I guess!
I'm thinking of going for the revision G but just haven't got round to it, where did you go for yours?
As far as I know on K03 cars, the DV is located at the turbo. From watching videos/reading threads its done from under the car, three hex bolts and unplug the sensor/cable and then switch for the new unit.
Here's the link to the video I watched, gave me a better idea of the DV location etc :happy2:
-
This should help you !

I'm sure, neither can I, the weather is a pain in the backside at the minute, can't keep the car clean! I'm probably reading too much into it and it's all in my head but going to give it a go and change it anyway for peace of mind. I bought this one off the Awesome GTI eBay page, they don't charge P+P on it on eBay but charge £18 on their website?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-VW-AUDI-1-8T-2-0T-2-5T-UPGRADED-PISTON-DIVERTER-VALVE-06H145710D-/221680727867?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item339d33773b
Yeah scopes, I've been reading the How-Tos and found that page too, hopefully it shouldn't be too hard a job, just need to find all my tools.
Have you done this job yourself?
Thanks for the help guys! :drinking:

I relocated the DV to the front, just like the ed30's. Also replaced the OEM with the forge DV.
It is a PITA to do, but once you get the wheel of and the drivers side lower inner arch out, it makes life much easier, than working from underneath.
:happy2:
-
I'm gonna give it a try from underneath first and if I'm struggling I'll have to take the arch liner out and do it that way, I'm gonna try to follow that guide you linked. :)

Hi Northern Ireland!
-
Welcome Adam.
Fine looking motor you've got there. Nice spec as mentioned!
Another munter from Carrickfergus here... well, living in Belfast at the minute - Tates direction. I've got a minimally used G diverter valve sitting in my parts collection - welcome to buy it for £20 if the awesomegti one doesn't work out!
Xenons are looking well! :pomppomp:
-
Rossimac,
If Adam doesn't take you up on the G diverter valve I will! Looking to buy one myself!
Josh
-
Finally got around to getting the diverter valve fitted today, I would definitely recommend getting it checked out Josh! By all means buy the one Rossimac is selling :). It makes the car run so much better and faster!

Did you fit it yourself Adam or just leave it in somewere? Glad to hear its running better hopefully I'll get the same result! :driver:
-
Left it in with someone who knew more than I did! :P. Only charged me a tenner to fit it too so was happy to pay him! Good luck! Let me know how you get on :).

Turns out my car is eligible for the coil pack recall, I gave my local VW dealership a call and they confirmed this. Definitely worth chancing your arm to see if you can get it done!

Rev G is the most recent of the diaphragm ones. My one was Rev C and looked like it'd been there since the car was made haha! Nice looking car mate!

thanks bud, yea no that but spoke to the guy I bought the car off he said he difo didn't replace it, tbh I think its fine just want to do it for peace of mind :happy2:
-
If your car is one of the later models then it's probable that the Rev G came standard! I got my DV and PCV done just for maintenance before I get it remapped :).

welcome :happy2:

Any of you guys from NI recommend somewhere I can get a remap? Heard AutoTune and TorqueTronix are good, anyone had a map done by them?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Autotune ! :driver: They have had loads of R&D on the 2.0 tfsi engine, Best by far in N.Ireland.
-
What stage of map ?
-
Stage 1 just, my car is standard at the min.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did they not get burnt out recently? Autotune that is.
-
Did they? Didn't know that!

I may have heard that from a 4th party. Looking for confirmation on what is a very probably wrong rumour...

Welcome mate, tidy looking GTI you've got there. :happy2:
