Soo.....it seems my Cam Belt has never been done on the car, I was under the impression it had been done when I bought the car from VW as a used approved car however....seems I was very wrong, my local VW garage has taken the stance that it'll be good for 120k????
I've not had any issues with the car or reason to believe there will....however...
How much would be reasonable to pay for this and the water pump to be done?

In the handbook i believe it's 80k.
From post 09 cars (diesels) It's been changed to 120k I believe.
£350 at an indy for cambelt and waterpump.

Thanks guys, I phoned back my local VW garage to get a quote and they said it was checked at my last service not to worry about it...they will check it again at the next, however they can't seen an issue due to my low milage.
Guess thats one less thing to worry about..

Get that in writing!
No way would i skip on a cambelt change because i was advised it looked ok.
-
Haha, I was being sarcastic, VW wanted 499 which didn't seem to bad until I called a recommended local garage who is happy to do it for £280 :happy2:
Seems like a good deal to me

Just make sure they have done golfs before. The Mk4 needs a special alignment tool which if they haven't got, they could fudge it like what a local garage did with mine and the diesel pump timing was 5 teeth out :fighting:

Thanks mate, I'll double check when I drop it off. He seems to know what he was on about however and done a great job when my mate had issues with his car.

I paid £345 Campbell and waterpump
