Afternoon all, ive managed to get my r32 front brakes fitted and bedded in they need a good bleeding but i dont wanna do this till the rears are on
Now the garage thats been doing the work wernt happy to fit the rears in the same sitting due to the dust shields being too smalL
i know a lot of you guys just bend or remove them but all parties on this side would feel a lot better would feel something in placw for peace of mind
now heres my plan: i know fabricating completly new shields would be an incredible waste of resources but if i was able to get a set of r32 shields and gti shields would it be possible to join them together with the power of welding?? Or do the fitting vary substantially that it wouldnt be possible?
Any input is always appreciated
Thanks
Tommy

Why not buy and fit the shields like i did
-
Push them back... They will work fine.

On my gttdi only one screw didnt line up but it's held solid with the rest

I believe Eos V6 rear shields 'may' fit as that had the larger rear brakes but was a fwd platform

The shields screwed in perfectly on my MK6 and its FWD
Make sure you get the shields right way round!

Just to bring a happy ending to the thread, got the rear brakes on today and fitted with matching rear shields, in regards to fitment 2 of the 3 stqndard holes fit, and then another was simply drilled to make 3 connections to the hub
Thought id just through this on here for future reference as i only read posts saying major fabrication would have to be done, it doesnt appear to be the case!
Happy modding guys :happy2:

Nice work! Sounds a good outcome - could you let us know the part numbers that you used?
I take it you used the EOS V6 rear shields in the end?

I have the R32 dust shields with serial numbers as above and found that they don't fit very well. Like you say, only 2 holes align.
Did you have to remove the hub to get the shields on, because I have failed to get the dust shield over the hub (the thing with the wheel bolt holes in)!!??
Cheers,
Nick
