Title: Phone button and "star" button on MFSW.
Post by: andybon on March 14, 2015, 08:37:56 pm
i was just wandering if these work on everyone's cars?

They don't seem to work on my car at all. I have a rcd 510 dab with Bluetooth module with part number  5KO 035 730D, does something need to be upgraded e.g. Can gateway or something else?

This is driving me mad, (hate having buttons there that don't work!) can anyone help me?

I only have the rcd head unit but the full multi function computer. The star button mutes the sound from the stereo. The phone button does nothing for me either. Expect it depends on headunit and computer somehow

Depending on your coding it can do either of the above.

Look at step 3 this confirms a coding change

Now other modules would have to be checked to see what their coded for eg phone - radio - Can
Etc.

Hi all I also installed a 7P6 bluetooth today, the module works fine with my phone, but I am unable to use any buttons via the steering wheel to answer a call.

When I got my car it had the factory fit phone kit with the cradle which was operated via the phone button from what I can remember. I've since removed this and installed a bluetooth kit so the phone button doesn't do anything now. My star button mutes the stereo.

My star button mutes the stereo.  The phone button can answer/hang up on calls made through my Parrot hands free kit.

fitted a PolarFIS Adv. "Black Kessy edition 2014"

and now both star and phone buttons work and it brings up all phone book info on the clocks using the right hand side buttons to scroll through it
it's made it the same as a 14 plate touran I had as a courtesy car

so much better  :happy2:
