Ok so I was driving home on the motorway yesterday and thought I would boot it a bit. So dropped it into 4th and as I put my foot down the car sort of cuts power and makes like a dsg traction control fart noise. I let off then try again and it done the same thing but this time my engine light flashed on and off a few times, it stayed of. I then cruised home thinking a coilpack most likely.
So after work before I give it some again just to check, but this time nothing happened. The car is an edition 30 and was remapped last week to stage 1.5, I am currently waiting for my friend to scan it with vcds. But does this sound like a coilpack or plugs?
-
Yep certainly does mate, although the same happened when I went APR stage 1+ Power wasn't coming in as it should. So had to go back to stage one. Bought a zorst couple of weeks later went stage 2+ and no issues with that.
-
It had been working fine, apart from last night. May be on its way out, will see what the vcds brings up.
-
This has literally just happened to my stage 2+ eddy, exactly the same, whipped out the coils after a scan of cylinder 4 misfire and saw moisture had got into 4 bore and fowled up plug 4. New set of plugs and away she goes.
-
Definitely sounds like a coilpack symptom, my GTI suffered this exact problem on two occasions.. misfire under load accompanied by flashing engine light
-
Anyone have part number for revised coil packs that should be fitted then? Want to check mine now after reading this!
Mine is a 57 plate and Vw are saying recall doesn't affect mine but want to be sure now
Think part number on mine are - 07K 905 715 F
Thanks again

Well I put new plugs in on the weekend and it has cured the missfire. The plugs were not badly worn but they did look like they was due a change. Also two of them were not even tight

Good stuff mate
I recently changed plugs for genuine oe ones and after looking through history it seems mine went into Cw for missfire in 2012 which turned out to be 1 coil pack so they just changed the 1
Just ordered another 3 genuine ones with same part number as my above post for the grand total of £14 each
Keep the 3 old ones with earlier part number as spares now :happy2:
