Very annoying rattle which seems to be coming from just below intrument cluster within the steering wheel cowl. When the rattle 'rattles' a slight pressure on top of the cowling stops the noise.
Anybody else suffering similar and any solutions? Should I remove cowling to investigate?
Thanks

Anyone suffering similar please!! It's driving me crazy. And not in a good way!

Are the clips which attach the top cowling to the bottom there? I had an annoying rattle and one of the clips was missing, got a new one from vw for about 20p and problem solved!

Thanks for your reply cnut; I've never had the cowl apart. Is it an easy job?

The top one just unclips off. Pull the wheel out towards you and using a credit card or something thin but strong place it between the two cowlings and prise it apart. 30 sec job.

I'll be having a look first thing in the morning! Thanks again.

Mine does the same. I took the cowling off and did up some screws on the cluster. Then used Vaseline around that plastics that's not visible and it did kinda do the job. I have many other rattles now, the biggest is from the glove box. It sounds like a screw has become lose.
It doesn't help when you got solid mounts and your front shocks are knackered when it's cold!

I split the cowl top and bottom as instructed ( thanks!) and nothing missing clip wise so I guess noise is down to creaky old age, like me!
I may carefully apply some lube to the joints and see what happens.
