Title: Stupid garage questions...
Post by: Bane on March 24, 2015, 07:20:11 pm
You know how people with no knowledge or interest in cars walk into garages and say things like "There's this knocking noise...." and then expect the wrench monkey to know exactly what it is and can pinpoint and diagnose the fault in nanoseconds?

Soooo.... :ashamed:

I have this knocking noise on start up,more so when it's cold.Seems to pull well and there are no other problems other than this knock on start up.It actually sounds as if the exhaust is knocking against the bulkhead or floorpan....I don't have access to a ramp so are there exhaust mounts near the front that can let go and might be a cause?

Get someone to start the car while you're outside it and looking under, then you'll be able to pinpoint the source of noise more accurately. There's a few points that the exhaust is mounted by on the downpipe and cat, maybe one has failed.
