Title: RCD 510 + Accessories
Post by: LiamGTi on March 25, 2015, 10:36:13 pm
First and foremost i did do a search but the answers do seem mixed. I didn't want to waste my money, the car costs me enough as it is.

So... I'm wanting a RCD 510, I don't hugely need sat nav so for me its not worth the extra money.

My car is a Nov 2006 GTi, has a lot of spec, I have no idea if this is factory or added on by the previous owner, but spec is Highline, MFSW, iPod Dock in Armrest, Xenons, Heated Seats etc I don't know if this spec potentially effects anything.

I do know that I will need a new gateway IF mine isn't a newer one which it is likely it isn't due to the car being 2006.

My questions are:

How can I check the gateway is this an easy job?

How easy is this to fit if I need a replacement, if its a coded jobbie from our fellow @Eddie-NL (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2345) - Plug in and play or more coding needed?

My current radio is an RCD500, do I need additional wiring to fit an RCD510 or is this a straight plug in and play?

Will this work with the MFSW and Highline display as a plug in and play or do I need anything additional?

If I have an RCD510 will the armrest iPod work or will I need MDi?

Can I fit Bluetooth to this RCD510, if so what do I need, again coded, or plug in and play?

When fitting, is there a tutorial, or any tips anybody can recommend when doing it?

Sorry for all the Q's I just want to get it straight before I spend money and then end up not bothering because I didn't do the proper research.

Thank you kindly

Liam,
