What's the best tyres to get for a ed30?
I'm running 215/35/18 and want to stay this size

215? I would of thought 225 would be better?
I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics 2. Softer tyre wall than the Michelin Super Sports 3. Both good brands for multi purpose surfaces. There's a lot threads on here about tyres.

Assuming your on standard 18"s then 225/40/18 and Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

All the tyres that people recommend on the other threads are 225/40/18 which i dont want and you cant get them in 215/35 hence why i asked and put the size. . .

But they are great tires in 225/40-18.

Only it's not the specified size and I've never heard of anyone wanting to reduce the contact patch on a reasonably powerful car.

Usually only done because 'Bagged' and because 'moar low'...only concern is clearance and because 'Stretch' is 'kull'....I think :happy2:

I agree with you to some extent that I'd rather he have 225 pilot super sports but really he's not the problem, of he gives enough of a sh*t to ask what the best tyres in that size are then performance and safety are obviously a important.
The problem is people who are oblivious to what condition/ brand/ pressures etc their tyres are in. People with a different tyre with different pressures and substandard tread on are the problem, the ones who only ever get their tyres checked when they get an MOT. They scare me.

The thing is, you don't need to spend a fortune either. Super Sportsare very good, but there are other makes/models out there just as good, for a lot less money.
For example, I'm running Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, 225x40x18. I got 4 fitted for £350. Wet & dry grip is sh*t hot and for that price I'd put them up against any other manafacturer.
The problem I have is when people buy a safety product like tyres based on how good they look or how many scene points they get.
Bearing in mind that the only contact your car has with the road is the small patch of tyre that's actually touching the road, get the tyres that give you the biggest contact patch. Rather than ones you can 'tuck on your bagged ride'.

I do agree with you on that, 90% of those cars that I see run nankangs because they stretch well but also 90% of those cars do less than 2000miles a year, never see the rain, don't go above 60mph and have a second set of daily wheels with better tyres. Yes some people sacrifice safety for looks with cheap fixes and tyres and they're morons but in Dom's defence I really don't think he's in that category.

In all honesty I'm not bagging the OP (pun not intended). Just sick of seeing scene idiots with their overstretched tyres putting other people at risk.
May have something to do with seeing a bad accident round the corner from my house, involving the local dickhead with his slammed, stanced, stretched ride.
Didn't save him when he drove into the front of a bus though, the f*cking tool!!

Thing is I totally agree with you though, soo many people puttting looks over safety at literally any cost. Like the bloke who's wheel fell off on the way to UD, supposedly he was using 2 different wheel adaptors at the same time that were barely held on so he could fit some fancy f*cking wheels but seems to have forgotten he's on a public road full of other people. Luckily it only damaged his car and caused a bit of traffic but was a disaster waiting to happen really.
I'm all for modifying cars and making them unique (that's why I love it) but surely its common sense it still needs to be a road worthy vehicle at the end? Knobs.

Fair point, I honestly wasn't going after the OP though.
Seeing that accident this evening just shook me up a little, especially with it being a mk5 Golf on stretched tyres!
Anyway, back to the original question and my recommendation is Vredestein Ultrac Vorti. Best place to buy them is clickontyres.co.uk
They're really cheap for other makes too and if you're local they do a decent deal on fitting and look after your alloys whilst doing it, which makes a change nowadays!

im running my pescara wheels still so no stretch! You can still get good tyres in 215/35 I was just wondering what people recommended
To be honest the mk6 who's wheel fell off on the way to UD is one of my mates, but no spacers, they used a snap on gun late at night to get the car finished and it must of had a low battery or something.

I think 2 people had wheels fall off didn't they? The MK6 and a MK2 or something I think. Should have torqued them up though tbf.

Yeah the mk6 they was working on all night and with a snap on gun I guess you should think there done up
The mk2 was running 2/3 different spacers and adaptors so that's 12-16 bolts a wheel! Waiting to happen I guess
