Hi everyone,
I'm looking at getting a new ABS pump amongst other things for my TDI, the vw parts guy has given me a part number that seems almost right to my part
They have said the right ABS pump would be 1K0 614 517 HBEF
However my pump seems to have the part number
1K0 614 517 H
It's my understanding that the first block is chassis code, second is the part itself and the last block is random?
Then the letters at the end are the revision of said part?
VW direct want the best part of £650 for a new pump when the older revision can be found on the likes of ebay for a fraction of that.
My question is, what should I do in regards to revision numbers?
Thanks! Sorry for the ramble!

according to ETKA version H is the only one for your car no other model stated
ignore the BEF its not that important
-
I figured that might be the case!
Any clues as to what it even stands for?
On a side note, I've heard of this ETKA before, is it something available to everyone?

its vw's own parts program
available in a useful form here
http://www.partscats.info/volkswagen/en/?i=cat_vag_models&brand=vw
you can get full etka from other forums with updates every month to keep it going or some people keep there clock date on 1 day to keep it working but you never get updates this way
used to be available also in ebay but vw cracked down on sales of it as its copyrighted (yawn)
the 3 digits at the end are usually called the paint code and are sometimes important, i can't find what bef means apart from possibly an engine code, vw don't mix part numbers so as yours ends in H this is all that matters, H is the one for your car but only according to etka, other ones will probably fit but have have extra functions that you may not need or have wired in so may cause errors if a H isn't used
-
Thanks buddy, I'll keep an eye out for just the H version then!
The other part number was supplied by a guy at my local vw dealer parts department so I guess it would work theoretically!!
But as I'll be buying a known working but used part most likely, it's probably best to match the exact part number.
When swapping like for like parts, I assume any coding would just work right away?

Just so your clear H and HBEF are exactly the same part so there is no other part number on one ending in H, the bef part is mostly only available to see on etka and probably won't ever be printed on the label on the item.

Thank you for the clarification!
Makes navigating the likes of ebay much simpler!
Thanks again :)

I have ETKA and receive updates as they are released, I think you have all the info here but if you want me to confirm on ETKA let me know?

Thank you for that.
I do indeed think I have all the info I need here.
It is my understanding that the ABS pump has an attached a control module, does this have a separate part number?
-
It does indeed, in fact here are all the details...
