Hello everyone, is the car below a genuine UK GTI?
http://www.evanshalshaw.com/search/vehicledetails/used-car-volkswagen-golf--manual-petrol-red-hatchback-FP58OJB/
If you look at the dash, its got manual air conditioning and no top vent. I thought ALL UK cars had the top vent and climate control.

Dont know the answer to the a/c thing but If you find that the vent should be there use it to get a discount Along with the shoddy wheels you could get a few £££ off Good luck :happy2: :driver:
Seats are rather nice too

From the pics, it looks in good condition, do you think the wheels are reps? They are only 17".

My first GTI was similar in spec - without aircon
It was an Irish import - if I were you I would keep looking as it would be hard to sell on

Thanks Stu, can you remember any other differences?
The basics must the be same (engine and stuff) where there any other cosmetic differences?
-
That's quite a lot of £££ for a really low spec GTI, yeah it's low mileage and quite a late model but personally I'd much rather get a slightly older one with better spec or even start looking at Ed30s at that price.
-
As far as I can remember the lack of aircon and top vent on the dash were the only differences to a UK spec GTI - identical on the outside
My old one still had highline display but no MFSW a RCD300 radio, no armrest or heated seats.
Proper pauper spec :ashamed:

Agreed, I was looking at condition first and this one appeared in my searching. My first priority is basic condition and spec.
Right now I can find no manual 5 door ED30 cars in good un-modified condition, even at £12,000

Did it actually have air conditioning, just a button A/C ON/OFF?
-
Nope - no aircon whatsoever
Just blowers and heating
-
I have seen GTIs without the vent at the top and with out aircon when I was looking to buy mine last year
Also the alloys came in 17" and 18"

Yeah that's the thing about the edition 30, they're very tuneable so a lot are modded. My friend has a candy white 08 5 door edition 30 which is pretty standard - if you want I can have word to see if he's interested in selling?

 proper poverty spec that one

Manual ED30 £12,000!?! There has to be some out there for less. 2 owner DSG 5 door (including me) and I reckon I'd be around the £9000 mark. It is totally standard, bar the headunit.
