Title: Clifford alarm g5 concept 650
Post by: golfgti10 on April 06, 2015, 11:25:41 am
Hi
Brothers got a mk4 golf with this alarm on and I'm having trouble, I had the car running the other day and was turning the alarm chirping off and then the car cut off. It's like the immobiliser is cutting in

Wondering if you could help?

I had a Clifford AvantGuard 5.5 (which is really a Concept 650 with a few extra modules included) it died within 3 years of having it installed. Cliffords are temperamental if its started to go wrong then the best course of action is to get an auto electrician to remove it...

Could be anything wiring gone bad ect... As each installation is unique you'll struggle to find anyone to sort it out other than replacing the whole system probably...

I was left stranded more than once as it wouldn't accept instructions from the Clifford fob! I could open the car with the VW fob still but couldn't disable the Clifford as it had gone wrong even putting the 4 digit pin in wouldn't disable the immobiliser on it!!!  :scared:

I have the same alarm installed.

When I had it installed I was given lifetime warranty on everything other than the remote fobs for obvious reasons.

Worth checking back with the original installer or even manufacturer to see if you're covered?

Would never trust Clifford.

I honestly don't know how they got so big. Had one on my civic was a nightmare, my friend had one on his s2000 also a nightmare.

Mine constantly played up alarming while driving going off while driving and stuff.

The warranty only applies if its been given a 12 month health every year check, if not Clifford won't want to know...

Problems with mine... only 1 door would lock! alarm would go off for no apparent reason, it wouldn't accept commands from the fob, immobiliser light used to flash when driving! ect

Any decent auto electrician should be able to remove it for you, that was my only option original installer refused to come and look even when offered £££...
