Not working so had it regassed today and still not getting cold.
Guy thinks it maybe the compressor???
Anything else it could be before I go down that route?????
No leaks and gas was down to 300 odd now 525 whatever those numbers mean
-
Mine was exactly same last year mate
Got my specialist mobile aircon friend out and was diagnosed as pressure switch, £70 to supply and fit switch including re-gas,
He says mine has the later compressor fitted which was much better than the pne fitted to earlier mk5 Golfs, mine is 57 plate if that helps, my missus also has 57 plate Gt tdi and hers is the later compressor too
-
Mines an 05 plate so early one I guess
-
This pressure sensor can it be replaced without degassing?
If so anybody got advice on how to do it? Diagrams etc.
-
From searching this looks like a general problem
-
Yes it can be replaced without regassing mate
Quite afiddly job to do though
My mate used a stubby spanner to gain access
Look in engine bay and its on left of condenser think its a 17mm spanner
-
Yes I have located it! Gonna pass and let a specialist do it! lol
-
Hopefully getting the pressure switch fitted later today so we will see if that fixes it!
-
When i saw how easy it was to change a wished id done it myself mate but is fiddle without a stubby or crows foot spanner :happy2:
Oh and whatever the specialist diagnostic equipment was that my friend used actually told him it was the pressure switch soon as he plugged into my car!
-
You can get a dye put into the system when you have it re-gassed that will show up under uv light and show you where it is leaking from.
-
I had to fork out and get a new compressor fitted a nice £400.
No chance i could last another summer with no ac and leather seats lol.
Hopfully the switch sorts it.
-
Well it hasn't!
So the guy that fitted it advised getting a VW main dealer diagnostic check as some systems wont pick it up!
Where is the control module? In the box next to the battery?
-
VCDS would be able to pick up on a fault with the control module, there's plenty of people on here who you could ask to plug into your car and check for faults. More than likely going to be the compressor if its not the pressure switch
