Taken from SCN, its exactly the same as the ITG bar the foam filter section
We have been working on an Intake kit for the 2.0 TFSi engined cars for a while now on a few cars. Everything is working perfectly with a noticable improvement in power and torque across the full rev range.
Here are some pics of the kit:

Looks very well made, very neat welding.

Its the welded parts that make me think the buy them off ITG

....Exactly!
I wonder how it performs in comparison with the ITG.
Cost?

Ooh yeh that big ass foam filter will be sucking in plenty of heat!

i am sorry that looks poo for that amount of £££ i have a mate who could make that so much cheaper than that and would be better made.

Cheers, yin :drinking:
So that price puts it in direct competition with the ITG and the Forge TWINtake. However, looking at it I wouldn't be interested in that Pipercross at any price. It can't possibly perform as well as the ITG with that unprotected foam filter - Not if you include what happens when the car is stationery.
-
wondered how long it would take before it got put on here, people slate the naff looking foam section on the ITG but it does its job unlike the one above which doesnt even have one.
Wonder how it compares with th ITG because of the lack of foam considering its the same.

Cone looks beefy... maybe unnecessarily
that looks rather familiar to the secret VAGupgrades filter kit ;) which will be a damn site cheaper

....Any criticism I've had about the ITG version has not been about its performance but only about the look of the extra foam blocks on the battery which are there to help seal the open filter from the engine area.

The issues I have are:-
1. No separation from the engine bay for the intake and so it will be sucking in ambient engine temp air.
2. A little like the ITG - I don't like all the step connections and jointing - air flow disruption.
3. Too much silicon tubing - visually  in blue for me.
4. Can't really tell, but I think the downpipe and tap pipe for the DV are silicone piping too and that IMHO is a recipe for disaster in the longer term due to heat deformation -possibly?!?

its just a forge hose with a nipple a few sfs hoses, some joiners a maf housing and a cone and jubilees... hardly worth next to £400 in my opinion!

....I have exactly the same issues except perhaps the question of durability of silicone piping - I'm led to believe that it's good.
The other issue I have is with you, John - Your christmas sig is quite the very best I've ever seen used! :P :notworthy:

Glad you like it Robin.

I'm afraid to me that this intake just looks like bits from various existing intakes have been bolted together to make this one.

Note to self: never post any of my design work on mk5golfgti's forum - harshest critics known to man.

if it was half the price then we would buy it but not for that price :P

....Not me. I'd either politely refuse to accept it even as a gift or take it and try and sell it on.

Unlike the ITG, this filter isnt oiled
