any way to get good sound out of the engine and exhaust without spending too much £. Right now mine is completely stock will be getting a remap soon it's a dsg. was thinking dump valves and resonator delete? don't wish to spend more than £200 what are my options if sound will be dramatically improved maybe £300.

Cheapest way is to remove the pre cat

This ^^
Don't do a dump valve, the TFSI is designed to have boost recirculated. If you want whooshing & hissing noises buy an EVOMS intake for £285
Resonator delete will drone and soon drive you up the wall :signLOL:
-
If you do choose to remove the resonator I would do the pre cat delete as well it gets rid of most of the drone and has a very good sound for a stock exhaust as I have done the same and cost me £50 :happy2:

Try finding a second hand evoms/ revo/ itg intake for £200 - £300 and remove the precat on your driveway, that'll give you some good noise and more power. Otherwise wait for a cheap cat-back to come up for sale.
-
Another vote for pre cat removal cheap better exhaust note and better flowing exhaust win win
-
thanks for the replies. OK where can I get pre cat removed and also should I get it done before remap or after or it wont make a difference?
-
still haven't been able to find a garage that will do a pre cat removal. Been calling r-tech but not getting any replies. Has any one got a pre cat removed from a garage in London if so care to share their details or pm their number
-
do it yourself it is is easy undo 4 bolts, remove both Lambda, undo the connecting band to the back box, remove exhaust brace, strike the catalyst with a hammer and chisel. empty out broken catalyst. replace on car drive and smile
-
forgot to mention I will not be able to attempt this myself don't have the tools or the knowledge to that's why I have been looking for a garage to do it for me or if any of you guys have done it yourself and live close or in London then maybe we can work something out ? :)
-
where in london are you may be able to go in to somewhere like Formula one tyre and exhaust center and ask them to remove that section of the exhaust and then reattach after you give it a clout
-
Hackney
-
In that case there is a formula one in Woodford who are never busy and am sure will do it.

after smashing it out would you use wire wool etc....
thanks in advance for help and reply
-
Wire wool ? What for?
Just smash it / drill it out if you have a long drill bit then empty out all the pieces
-
I would just smash out empty out and reattach

Atmospheric DV, makes great noise on My MK5, car runs a treat and sounds mental if you remove the sound deadening under your bonnet
