hi advice please change my oil to millers nanodrive 5w40 mite be a coincidence but car tempruture gauge shows 80 degrees on run and 90 bang in the midle on tick over after run .change temp sender just the same rang vw for thermostat price technical guy said never change one in 15 years. will this do any harm heater works straight away and fan comes on at 90 when ticking over help please stage 1 2008 edtion 30.

My temp used to drop off 90 degrees when coasting would be fine the rest of the time had thermostat changed all fine
your tech must be fortunate not to have changed one as when mine was playing up i found quite a bit of info regarding thermostats causing slight temp drops on these cars

Maybe they have never changed one, but every other ED30 owner on here has had to do it, including me.
Similar for S3 and Cupra owners that use the 87c stat.

If it fluctuates depending on whether you are driving and idling, then chances are the stat is stuck open and it needs replaced.
It is not good for the engine longer term if it cannot get to temperature.

Happened to me too.

It's getting more common these days as these cars get older
