Title: Wet footwell
Post by: Chris92 on April 11, 2015, 03:27:07 pm
Well after not far off 2years ownership my gti has it's first problem, took the rubber floor mats out today when I doing the whole interior and notice the carpet was soaking, press your fingers down into the carpet and they almost disappearing into the water.

Any ideas? Anything else apart from the drainage on the bulk head and door seals?

It's only the driver side that's wet.

Just popped out and the carpet around the pedals isn't wet it's further back like behind the heel pad thing that's built into the carpet.

Does your car have a sunroof?

No sunroof, I'd of thought if it was the drain next to the bulk head that the carpet around the pedals would of been wet to.

On wheeler dealers they used a smoke machine to identify where the water was getting in - maybe you could borrow one and try that method?

Or sit inside while someone goes round with a jet wash looking for ingress
