Title: Gti sideskirt fitting. Are the Fitting strips needed? Also part no's needed!
Post by: andybon on April 12, 2015, 09:04:29 am
ordering my gti sideskirts this week and just want to know if I need the firing strips or can I get away with not using them?

Also does anyone have the part numbers for the black textured ones for a 5 door along with the other bits that are needed.

The sideskirts come with double sided sticky foam already on them but it is worth getting the fitting kit but not the strips. They push into holes in the chassis and allow some extra security.

Part Numbers for the skirts are - £82:
1K4 853 859 B9 B9
1K4 853 860 B9 B9
These are the black textured ones, not primed.

Adaptors - £16.50:
1K0 853 493 x4

Screws - £3:
103 546 02 x10 (probably won't need 10 but I bought some spares).

Items 10, 11 and 12 you want.

Hope this helps.

With just the tape and adaptors there is no need to bond them on. Just make sure the sills are cleaned well and degreased. That's how mine are on and have had no issues.

I have been thinking for a long time about doing it, and with having the gti seats and rear bumper I thought why not!

Only thing is now I'm going to swap the front bumper over from a Jetta one to a gti one to match!

I did ask about the primed skirts but lost interest when I heard the word TWO :stupid: :stupid:

Mine are holding well, just used the standard double sided tape and clips and screws too.
