Title: My new car
Post by: Black9 on April 12, 2015, 04:15:43 pm
So collected my new car this week, 2012 C63 AMG saloon. Has a few mods too,

Eurocharged remap, 520-530 bhp
Quaife lsd
Resonator delete
507 edition wheels
"Petronas" green calipers

It's a bit of a beast, thing I'm most surprised about is the transmission. Being the facelift model it has the newer MCT speed shift transmission and its actually pretty quick. Obviously not as fast as a twin clutch system but doesn't feel that much slower than my old DSG.

Funny thing is i sort of miss driving my GTI. Think it's down to how fun and versatile the car is. Initially planned on selling it but now I'm not so sure....

Just shows how good the MK5 golf GTI really is....

Oh and just to add my car is a stock KO3 car with manual trans. Few handling mods and well spec'd. So much car for the money

I'll take some pics, not sure how to upload pics but I can send them to someone if they want to upload...

Not checked mpg yet but its silly on fuel.. Saying that the noise is addictive especially with the resonater delete so maybe worth it :driver:

Fuel economy is the main thing that puts me off buying V8+ cars . I know people who can afford these cars shouldn't be worriec , but i retired nearly 2 years ago at 50 ... I have a limited income but have a stack of cash doing very little for me. I would love a V8 but the MPG makes me wince... Perhaps i need to get a job

50 is the ideal age to get a V8 car :happy2:

The new C63 will have a twin turbo unit so much better on fuel. A better purchase for an every day car. Nothing will beat the noise of the M156 6.2-V8 tho

I've emailed pics over so should be uploaded soon

Fuel consumption is madness but to be expected for a supercar engine :driver:

Main thing that drew me to the c63 was the engine yet it can be the biggest drawback due to mpg lol

Just shows how good the MK5 golf GTI really is....

Back when the Mk5 GTI was a new car, EVO took it along on a supercar comparison test. It was in the company of and RS4, an R8, a 911 GT3 and some others. They wrote at the time that the 911 had trouble pulling away from the GTI on anything but a straight road. The GTI was around £20k at the time, the GT3 around £80k. I don't think there's any higher praise that can be given of the Mk5 GTI - that its on road capabilities are only slightly worse than that of a track biased supercar that cost 4x the price. And yet it'll still give 35mpg, and has space for 4 adults and a big boot. It really is all things to all men people!
