Title: My New Car is Famous
Post by: irish_ram on April 13, 2015, 07:34:44 pm
Just browsing Ebay and came across an Edition 30 mag for sale and my new car was on the front.

I can now say I go out with a celebrity quite often

I am bidding on it and at £6 already so not sure what it will go for  :surprised:

I have messaged the buyer to see if they have a heart and let me buy it rather than have a bidding war

Might be worth emailing the mag and seeing how much it is for a back issue?
FYI - March 2007 edition had the full road test of the Edition 30.. and your car was the test model. The test in quite in depth and spans a full 5 pages.

Was looking at that but the guy on ebay has offered to send it to me for £7.95 and the current bid was at £6 + £2 P&P so bargain.

I will be like a kid waiting for it to come now so I can read it  :jumping:

I bet you're loving the ED30, I'm about 10 days into ownership of my tornado GTI myself and it keeps impressing me.

If you really want to get the best possible image look into giclee printing.

And yes, definitely get the plaque if you can!

Well they need the V5 to prove Owenrship before they divulge any information is my understanding. Plus I gave them the wrong reg initially so maybe that has altered them to ask for the V5

I am indeed. I had the TSI beforehand and couldnt understand why GTI was so different but now I have driven one I know why. And just had to fork out a little more for the ED30.

Ill check out the giclee so cheers for that.

Another thing is when I had the TSI I wanted to mod it from a cosmetic point of view but everytime I look at the GTI ED30 it impresses me that I do not really want to change anything or mayb just a few of the standard non ED30 specific parts  :happy2:

I want the Plaque but if gone I think there is somone on here making replicas hopefully

Although her face did liight up with joy or fear when I stuck it in Sport today to overtake someone  :driver:

Completely agree about the looks, as it happens I'm calling in at VW tomorrow for my ED30 splitter!

The k04 engine must be a lot of fun - I'm really happy with how the k03 makes power. It's night and day compared to the old 1.8T days.

Enjoy mate!!!

Nice bit of VW history you have there! Sorry for the question, but does it show on the history as a VW Milton Keynes Press car?
Only wonder as I remember when one of the very first mk4 R32's was up for sale and the chap had no idea it had been ragged by Top Gear, Evo magazine, et al.

Still - you have a lovely car - tornado red certainly stands out

Thanks, I am not sure to be honest but will check. I googled other test drives around that year and it was a different reg used which ended OXB I believe.

Lets hope if I do decide to sell in a few years this history can be marketed for profit  :happy2:

All the colours are good as they are on a GTI but if you want to get people to turn their heads then it has to be Tornado Red or candy White  :jumping:
