Title: How To - Oil Strainer Cleaning (Low Pressure & Stop Engine)
Post by: lukemk5gti on April 14, 2015, 08:37:19 am
I see several threads pop up on this issue and a company here in Ireland has bought a GTI project car for their demonstration videos.

They took it out on a track day last week and the low oil pressure light and stop engine light came on.

Turned out to be the oil strainer getting clogged so here is a how to on fixing it:

What was blocking the oil strainer?

It didn't say, looks from the picture like general crud.

Could have come from anything, maybe the oil was left in for too long, it started to burn and deposit these little bits.

Does seem to be a common enough issue anyway!
