Title: Brake problems
Post by: Rickie47 on April 16, 2015, 10:06:11 pm
So yesterday i changed my Diverter valve on my car which really needed changing after I pulled the old one out and then thought I know I'll take it out for a drive. However after a good 15 min blast around the roads I got home and could smell burning. It turned out to be my rear right hand brake. Now the only thing I'm thinking off is that I've pulled on the handbrake a bit to hard before lifting it to change the dv valve and its stuck on. I've sprayed brake cleaner on the brake and give it a jet wash as I have done a lot of mileage 2000 miles over the last month. I've taken it for a ten minute raging and it then seemed fine but is there any other checks I can do myself to put my mind at rest?

Jack the back up and spin the wheel.
Or better yet get a mate to pull the release the handbrake and foot brake while you spin the wheel by hand, to give u peace of mind.

Mate have a Nova that the handbrake used to bind abit if pulled to hard. A few hits with a hammer freed it up and it never happened again.....

I've taken the caliper off and tried to wind it in won't move in what so ever. I tried the other side and it winds in a little so I guess it's time for some new calipers  :sad1:. Cheers thoe for helping out  :happy2:

Did you open the brake fluid cap under the bonnet when you tried turning the caliper back in
