Title: eBay bumper grills
Post by: Lyons on April 16, 2015, 11:14:34 pm
I'm planning on replacing all the grills on the front of the car to freshen it up a bit. There are countless non genuine grills on eBay for £40 odd and open fog light covers for £20.

I know a few folk have got the fog light covers, but has anyone bought a main grill too? Just keen to hear what the quality is like.

Bump. Also quite keen on this. I can get a whole grill setup for £80. The front is rather faded

I've bought both main grill and open fogs. The main grill was an awful match and the fogs were spot on.

Really? Do you have the link for the main grill u used? The one I was looking at was £40 and it's does look good. My front grill is very faded and instead of cleaning it I think it's probably best to just replace.

Thanks

I sprayed my grills as they were faded and it cost me £9 and took an hour... see my thread for the results

Arrived today! Haven't fitted it yet but looks swiggity swag at first glance. No more horrid blue-grey discolouration.

No, the one that was about 5 quid dearer did though. It does have pilot "holes" for guiding where to drill the holes though.

Yep, I'll take lots of photos. New and old side by side to compare the colour, then before and after when fitted to the car. Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to do it, with photos shortly after if all goes to plan!

Now for sale, £30 Inc postage. I was going to use the numberplate mount off my old grille but VW in their infinite wisdom have used plastic rivets to hold it on, and I can't be arsed to get the drill on it. I've ordered the one with the mount included instead.

You can remove the rivets and reuse them, just poke the middles out with a screw driver.

Hey guys got my new eBay grills on today. The whole pack came to about £80. Looks pretty good (no more horrible grey/blue fade) the fitment is pretty good too. :pomppomp:
