Title: Knock when changing gear on full throttle
Post by: TaylorGTi on April 17, 2015, 06:23:02 pm
When going from 2nd to 3rd when driving hard I'm getting a knock, Iv just had my stage 2+ map so am assuming with more torque the mounts arnt up to the job which is causing something to move but how shall I go about diagnosing what needs updating. Any help would be appreciated!

It's possibly an engine mount that's causing it rather than anything suspension related.

I'm not sure how you would effectively nail down the exact culprit, but uprating engine mounts is a worthwhile job in itself when you're tuned, so maybe it's worth the investment knowing there's a good chance you'll cure it.

Sometimes it's a case of replacing mounts and bushes starting at the cheapest, and sometimes that gives you an excuse to upgrade.

Best of luck.

Yeah im thinking that aswell as dog mount insert. Am I right in thinking that will reduce engine movement under load?
