Title: illumination wire

hi all. #

so ive just spliced an illumination wire off of the grey wire at the dimmer wheel next to the light switch (mk 5 golf gti).
im only seeing 3.9 volts though, is that right? will that be enough to tell my new unti when the lights are on and to dim the display?

Would have thought it would go to the light switch it self

hi, do you know which colour wire on the light switch? I spliced the grey wire on the light switch but it didn't give 12 volts.
the grey dimmer wire does work but you have to have the dimmer set highish to give enough volts. not want I want really.
