Title: Mfd2 disc?
Post by: Matthewsimone on April 20, 2015, 10:37:03 am
Hello
Looking to get updated disc for my sat nav as currently V4 version and realised yesterday just how out of date it is!

My question is ive seen the genuine ones are silly money ie £100 on ebay but people selling coppies which includes a unlock disc etc for around £20

Anyone ever used this copy disc set up? Any advice etc etc

Thanks in advance as always

Also interested, I recall @Shoduchi (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10590)  I think sent me on a link to download but I never progressed with it from that point because it looked too complicated. Or maybe I was just too lazy!

Anyway, let us know if you get any further, my disc for my MFD2 only works a fraction of the time because it's all scratched.

My brother in-law has these maps up and running in his MDF2. He already had the latest firmware so he just needed to unlock his HU.

Shoduchi, I think you should save everyone else's time and create the disc then we pay you!

Can you add a link to the seller or check the name you mention as it's not listing on E bay.

Seemed fine when tried it earlier mate
Possibly a touch slower on initial load up when push the Nav button

I just contacted that seller and he's looking for an extra £10 for the CD version claiming it'll cost him more to make a cd over a dvd....

Sounds like he's taking the piss out of me no?

Still a bargain in comparison to genuine one though

I agree about that but to be honest this guy is most likely just throwing illegally downloaded data onto a disc.

I don't know why a cd would cost more than a dvd.

I don't actually use my sat nav and was only getting it for when I sell the car down the line...

That 1st link doesn't work, the PayPal link isn't there. I found another website with the same layout etc with a working PayPal. I've messaged the team last week and haven't heard anything back...seems like scam to me.

Only want the update cd as I'm running the 2004 version  :sad1:

@shoduchi there's a couple of links - do I need to download the two files onto a dvd and then play them both in the MFD2 to firmware update and unlock?

MFD2 DVD (CB1.6): Share-Online - dl/73BLR9FMJLB (Firmware028)
Golf/Golf+/Jetta/Touran/Caddy/EOS/Passat/Passat Variant

Unlock DVD (all Firmwares): Share-Online - dl/X8TLS9FMQI2Z

Sorry I'm a bit of a newbie to the world of MFD2 so still figuring it out (from what I noticed, my units firmware is very old

If your unit hasn't been unlocked you need to do that. Update the firmware and unlock the unit.

Then burn the DVD and use it. It should be easy to do, IIRC.

@Shoduchi (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10590) thanks for the advice - do you by any chance have any links to get the 2015 maps? all the ones i can find are either dead or really slow to download from

@Matthewsimone (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10426) Did you have to update your firmware before you could run the latest maps? I'm currently on V4 maps so obviously need an updated version but I don't necessarily want to go through all the rigmarole of updating the firmware as well unless I need to!
