Title: Horrible grinding/rubbing noise that's getting worse
Post by: Hashmk5 on April 23, 2015, 10:59:04 pm
Hi guys so today on my way home, whilst breaking I heard a small grinding noise, as I carried on further and breaked more I realised it was coming from one of the back wheels and seemed to get worse, at one point in the journey I had to break quite harshly and now the noise is almost constant even whilst the car is moving at low speeds dispite breaking! Any ideas what this could be? I have an early morning exam tmro and need to know if the cars safe to drive or if I need to make alternative arrangements

I would say that a stone might be stuck between your brake disc and backplate. Easy to diagnose, jack your car and spin the wheel if it is grinding try bending the back plate to see if anything drops out.

Had this a few times in mine. I ended up finding a quite road and reversing for a few meters and the stone dropped out. Tho if it's worked it's self deeper you might have to start with the taking bits apart...
