Title: More praise for R-Tech
Post by: Jknight89 on April 25, 2015, 05:10:46 pm
I visited R Tech today for my stage 1 remap. Only mods I've made to my golf are pre cat delete and a ITG panel filter. I had a courtesy call about an hour before my appointment just to make sure things were still going ahead and that i was on my way. When i arrived we had a quick chat and then they pulled the car in to begin the health check. After 10 minutes or so the guys came back to me and said the PCV was faulty and needed replacing prior to any tuning. I previously checked it as advised on here and thought it was ok but apparently not. I told them to crack on with replacing it as it needed to be done. Once the car went through its first run on the rolling road it came back at 210BHP which i was quite impressed with. Once the car had been mapped it then made 250.2BHP and 316FT/LB torque. We went out for a test drive and i have to say the car is so much more responsive. They even gave me 5 switchable maps incase i have any trouble with the clutch slipping in the future i can decrease the power. I am a very happy customer and would recommend R Tech to anybody thinking about having their car tuned. First class service. Keep up the good work guys

Great stuff! Im looking to do the same. Couple of questions for you:

1) How much was the Stage 1 map?
2) How much was PCP and labour cost?

PM me if you like, thanks.

Added code to the ECU, switched using a combination of holding the brake and pressing the accelerator pedal to select the map, map selection indicated by the rev counter.

Different ECU on a TDI. I think it's added to all his MED9/TFSi maps these days but don't quote me on that

Nice starting figures. Do you have any other mods before the map? I'm presuming you're also using 5w40 oil now?

Only mods I had pre map were a ITG panel filter and pre cat delete. I will be using the millers oil on my next service.
