Hi guys, a couple of months ago I was out shopping with the missus, parked up the car, locked it and went on our way.
When we returned, strangely the sunroof was open, on tilt. Now I know it wasn't open when I left it.
Today whilst driving through sunny Leeds, it opened all by itself for a few seconds then closed again!
Has anyone experienced this before?
What should I be looking for to fix it?
Obviously I'm now paranoid when leaving the car in case the sunroof opens again, causing security issues.
Any help please guys?
Cheers
Andy

There was another thread on this a few weeks back so have a look in search...
My answer to the last one was - a friend has a mk4 gti where this happened. Was due to an aftermarket alarm causing problems.
Also, could be water ingress. Take the controls section apart and have a look at the wires.
Mine acted up twice in 2 years. It just failed to close on me. Started car, stopped car and went again and it was fine.
I put it down to electrical gremlins so unless it's happening often you might be ok!

Thanks for the reply. It's not gonna be an alarm problem as the car doesn't have one, it's an import.
I'll look for water ingress, must admit it was pouring down when I was driving this morning.

Haha, just found the other thread. Apparently it's called a moonroof!
Not much help on that thread.
Oh well, let's see if it happens again

Just thought I'd exhume this one for general info as mine has just started randomly opening itself as well.
It's a bad sunroof switch, basically. I've just disconnected it because no doubt VW will want 4 billion quid for a stupid switch.
