Title: coilover adjustment
Post by: jimmy-s3 on December 04, 2009, 07:07:23 pm
Ive just bought my first MK5 GTi and its come with coilovers on. The ride height at the moment is a little too low and i need to adjust it slightly.
Has anyone got any tips on doing this?(obviously i need to turn the adjuster with the adjustment tool) but do i do it will the wheels off the car or can in be done with them on??

You should be able to jack it up then adjust it

Depends on the quality of them, and how long they have been on the car, but i would get the car on some axle stands if possible and give the threads a good deep clean first before adjusting. You will need the C spanner for the fronts, but if you have the weight off the back and they are clean you may be able to turn the collar by hand from underneath.  :happy2:

Thanks TopCat!
Theyve been on the car around 4 months so they should be ok.
BTW, love your MK5

My old KWs got gunked up after 2 weeks of wet weather, personally I'd get the wheels off and clean them thoroughly before turning the collar.
