Title: Good auto electrician needed in Leeds area
Post by: toplad on May 12, 2015, 01:02:37 pm
Hi all

I have a reverse light out, I've checked it with  a tester and there's is no voltage there when in reverse. Also checked the cable which goes through the hatch, all fine.

Does anyone know a decent auto electrician around Leeds/Bradford?

Check the reverse switch on the gearbox with a multimeter

Can I do this from above or do have to check from the underneath ?

Just check to see if the reverse light switch on the gearbox is doing anything. Needs to be checked from underneath. You will have an ignition live (one wire goes live when ignition is on) and then a switched earth when reverse is engaged (open circuit when not in reverse).

Any half tidy garage will get to the bottom of this in no time, it's a very simple circuit. Doesn't need a dedicated auto-electrician
