Title: runner flap delete
Post by: mk5-beast-91 on May 13, 2015, 09:29:42 pm
Is it really worth it? What sort of gains do you get from it.
I know it is on big turbos but what about stage 2+

Don't bother unless you go BT. Dependant on you ECU and software for stage 2+ you can get a very rough coldstart  :happy2:

My Tuner-(Driver Motorsport) began doing RFD in their tunes. It just keeps the flaps open always rather than having to remove it.

The flaps are pretty much always open anyway. It's only under very low load (low rpm, trundling around town etc) that they are anything but fully open.

People remove them as the flap and the flow divider in the head present an airflow restriction. As for gains, in terms of numbers it probably won't net you much unless maxxing out a Stage 2+ K04. Does make some lovely noises, pops/bangs since fitting though, especially with Meth :)
