Afternoon All,
Freaked me out this morning. Basically was on the way to work and the engine died, the battery symbol lit up.
Dials went to zero etc, radio/dash cam stayed on.
I was doing about 30 at the time so dropped a gear and it all kicked back into life, light disappeared and haven't seen it again.
I tested the voltage with just the ignition on 13.4V and with Engine running 15.8, I assume that means the Battery/Alternator is OK?
Also, no codes thrown.
Any help appreciated.

Last time I had an alternator fail a similar thing happened. Alternator was charging intermittently.
Wasn't on a golf but similar system I'd assume

13.4V for the battery? Was this just after you had switched the engine off or after the car has stood for a while?
A Battery should hold 12.6V if in good condition, and you should be seeing around 14.4v with the engine running.
Sounds like it could have been an intermittent electrical issue such as the crank sensor
