Title: Amplifing standard speakers?
Post by: piston broke on May 21, 2015, 12:10:12 am
Has any one had a go at putting an amp in to drive the standard fit front and rear speakers?

I've already fitted an Alpine 910 double din head unit, and that has made the speakers sound better.

I've got a Genesis 5 channel amp that I could use for front and rear, then buy a stealth box from Visual Ice on flee bay to fit a sub into.

Any thoughts, good or bad???

Not something I have ever done myself (amped standard speakers) so not 100%, if I have fitted an amp I have always gone with aftermarket speakers.

I suppose it could be done to get the absolute max out of a speaker but think OEM ones might become overpowered causing them to stretch then 'fart' at any volume!

I'd say if you are going to amp and sub, get some decent aftermarkets in there!
