am considering a bluefin as can be added and removed for warranty, the web says it adds around 60 hp but what difference would that make to 0-60 and 1/4 mile times on an otherwise standard car, manual by the way

Hard to say really, tbh i doubt it adds much to the 0-60 as wheelspin would kill any extra power if they gave it to much boost (same for most maps i would say), the real benefit comes when in gear and overtaking etc :happy2:

not worth doing at all 60bhp is nothing you wont even know especially on a manual :P
but 0-60 will probably be reduced by a second but whats a second when we have hours of life still left. leave it standard like most of the people on here :laugh:

I had a Bluefinned DSG Edition 30 with a choice of both the 'older' Bluefin map which I preferred as it was less aggressive ... and the newest Bluefin map which is :laugh: but has traction issues if the road is cold or damp/wet.
How quick is it then ?
Well, being FWD I think a 0-60 figure is not going to be too accurate for day to day use .... it is very easy to spin power away .... but, in terms of how it feels when moving compared to my 'new' car; a Z4M Roadster .... which is allegedly 0-60 in 5 secs and 0-100 in 11 secs .... the Bluefin Edition 30 feels quicker !! Only just quicker but I would guess up to 100 there would be very little in it one way or the other .
Off the mark and the Z4M would kill the Edition 30 due to those traction issues, but it really is not about that in the real world. Once moving the Edition 30 is seriously rapid and easily a match for much quicker (on paper) machinery :laugh:
As a guess I would say 0-60 in 5.8/6 as opposed to 6.4 ..... but I know other's (Hurdy for one) can reply to this and state 100% their car was quicker than that as they have the print outs from times runs to prove it - and that was for a standard car !!
Bluefin was the best money I have ever spent on a car and I miss the car alot !

get some good tyres if you havent already as that makes a big difference. i know its an S3 but Tom's when just mapped did 0-60 in 4.6 seconds but you would have to add atleast half a second onto that due to the initial wheelspin. i reckon 5 and a half would be about right, phils bluefinned ED30 is only 8 down in my revo and i rekon theres a gnats pube in it between us for 0-60, we said we will be going against each other on the pod next year so if you can wait a few months there may be some data for you benje :smiley:

0 t0 60 would have more to do with driver and tyres than power to be honest, the in gear acceleration of a mapped ed is unreal mate, do it.

Manual 0-60 is different to a DSG 0-60. Volkswagen driver gave a figure of 5.6 seconds, but that was hard shifting and not recommended. Mine did a 5.66 to 60mph when standard and with a remap you could possibly drop half a second off that for a manual.
Like has already been said, a lot depends on conditions and driver skill and when up and running the in-gear times are superb. :happy2:

Keep the go pedal buried and only depress the clutch just enough to disengage and swap cogs (approx 50% of it's normal travel).
Faster shift but very hard on the transmission.

I do that already. Not regularly but definitely when redlining through the gears.

I used to practise hard shifting on the old company bus however i did manage to snap the gear lever mounting clean off.....erm twice. Its true what they say never buy an ex company car mine were all leathered senseless.

IMO 0-60 is a bit of a pointless figure these days. 0-100mph / 1/4 mile / 30-70mph or even 30 - 130mph which I tried once gives a lot better indication of a cars straight line performance..
I would say a well driven manual Stage 1 Edition 30 should be doing mid 5's 0-60 and mid to late 13's on the 1/4 mile. DSG will be about half a second quicker on both counts..
