If you have a GTI and other variants and have it lowered on springs or coilovers or anythingt else that is on the market, feel free to have your input as the idea behind this is to help myself and anyone else that is currently looking to improve their cars handling or appearance or both..
Post a picture of your car (before and after if possible) lowered along with brand and specs of what suspension your car has.
Can you also state what they are supposed to lower your car by. i.e "H&R Supersport 35mm"
if you've chopped springs or taken out bump stops etc then please add that info in too. Can you please also state whether the car is Manual or DSG aswell as this can make a slight difference due to the weight difference.
Ideally it would be better to post side shots of your cars to give any on-lookers the best idea of how their cars could/would sit if they were to buy the same setup.
Thanks,
Carl.

Top 2 photos are 18's and bottom 2 are 19's.
Manual car. KW V1's. Probably 45mm drop on the front and all the way down with the adjusters removed on the back (not sure how many mm's). The ride is fantastic and people are surprised when the find out its on coilovers and can't believe how comfortable it is, I've done many long journeys with no issues. The handling is vastly improved and transforms the drive of the car, I recently had the car round Silverstone and it suprised me and a few passangers how well it handled. Havn't got any 'before' shots because I had these fitted almost as soon as I got the car.

For an alternate perspective, my Vorsprung Durch MK5 diesel manual  AP coilovers, 18x8 BBS CK wheels, hit about 50 speedbumps a day :scared: :ashamed: (no exaggerations unfortunately).

Some good posts there guys :happy2: Very tempted to get AP Coilovers as i love the way Edition30Nicks looks.
For now its between the H&R SuperSport springs or the AP Coilovers.
Anyone else that would like to post there pictures and specs would be great.

eibach sport line's lower the car slightly more than eibach pro's don't they? In the 2 photos above they don't look much different.

Yes, about 1/2" more.

Not sure where you are located, but I heard the supersport springs aren't available in the UK. If their Sport Cup Kit is available...it has SS springs in it.

Has to be the APs imo.. I'm on sportlines and it's just not quite low enough...the slight gap still annoys me..Although it's still an improvement to standard. At least coil overs give you the flexibility to sit it how you like it :happy2:

I thought so, I'll make sure I buy these ones. Thanks

I know theres quite a lot of people on what i class as "high end" coilover kits such as KW's.. Would be great if we could get some more posts including both ends of the budget still (Sub £500) and £500+).
Also if anyone has had any issues after installing that they have had to repair or replace/upgrade then add that in, as every bit of information can and will help other people so they know what they can expect or what they may have to do if they have similar issues :happy2:
One that seems to pop up regularly is the 'Arch Screw Mod' for those people that have suffered from some rubbing issues if they are running their car low.. Be great if someone could also attach a link to that?..

Should help mate @CarlW (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=8175) - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,81928.msg847385.html#msg847385
Also, what I've generally learnt' is that if you want a particularly slammed low profile, or something that will offer regular track use stiffness or high end performance in terms of roll and cornering, then it's worth spend four figures or more on some thing focused like KW's, Blisteins or H&R's etc...
If the above doesn't apply, and like me you just want an improved cosmetic drop but without sacrificing ride comfort and because you drive around 'normal' UK roads for 95% of the life of your ownership, then something like the AP's for less dosh would probably be kosher enough. They've certainly done me true and fine.
I'm actually quite surprised how flat mine handles up to talent-testing-speed although I've got the heavy Derv lump up front perhaps helping the majority of that  :happy2:

New OEM Shocks, Eibach Sportlines.

H&R 30mm. Manual GTI. Standard shocks.
Being picky the front could be 10mm lower as there is a tiny bit more arch gap compared to the rear.
But the good thing is that the car rides just as well as on standard springs and handles better. It stays flatter and rolls less. No rubbing.
I'll probably get some coilovers and go for some stance at some point (I still haven't grown up), but for now I'm very happy with the H&Rs. It looks and feels OEM but at the height it should have been from the factory.
