Had the car REVOd last week with settings B7, F7, T5 and in this wet weather not getting any joy getting traction in lower gears over 3k revs. The tyres are Mich Pilot Sp 2 with about 5mm tread all round and I've been feeding the power in progressively. I had a Leon FR Stage 2 Leon developing the same torque figures at 3k revs before this and while it did wheelspin it was a lot more controllable, although not perfect.
Now I've got the select plus switch plus switch on order (freebie through their Dec promo) so was thinking of changing the settings to something more conservative for the wetter / colder months, any suggestions on settings for this?
One more question whats the traction like in the dry?

Do you have an uprated HPFP?
If not, I suggest you turn yout fuelling to 9 as recommended by revo.

mine is b8 f9 t5, turn the boost down if you have a heavy foot :p

i have just recently put michelin ps2's on all conrners and have noticed the traction in the current wet conditions is not quite as good as my previous tyres conti sport contact 3's. i have been getting wheel spin in 4th lately...
in the dry the ps2's are awesome alot better than conti's
the ps2 is meant to be a summer tyre though...
reducing the boost will help but won't be as much fun :driver:

No pump all standard apart from map. Don't really know why the setting were put are they were it was all done following logging by the tuner.

....Possibly but mind how you go - Less pressure can result in uneven tyre wear.
There are so many factors : -
- Tyre tread depth and condition.
- Tyre type re rubber.
- Tyre pressure.
- Road surface.
- Suspension: many factors within that.
- Your right foot.

not necessarily, I have found the PS2's prefer to have higher pressures (counterintuitive but seems to work) :happy2:

mrs wigit is learning to moderate the ferocity she applies pressure with her size 4 during these wet winter months as unfortuantely she tries to drive it in the manner of her old 1.8 astra

Definitely get all your geometry checked. How does the car handle - do it feel stable once moving and cornering, or does it feel twitchy?
Also, get the bushes, engine mounts and suspension checked out, if something is failing or has failed, excessive movement might be unloading the front wheels too much when you floor it.
Also bare in mind that most cars are going to struggle this time of year regardless of power. You might just need to modulate the power a bit better.

Will get geometry checked but have had no issues with handling, steering before. Will be looking to get the dog bone mount upgrade done shortly as I had it on the Leon (powerflex) and was great at reducing wheel hop.

I don't do hard starts at all in first, the problems I get are predominately in 2nd anyway!

woah, that seems a bit high, do vw really recomend that? Im running 30psi at the front, 29 at rear.

Mine are at 33psi.
Try tracking first and go from there.

2.4 bar = 35 psi (as near as damn it).

^^^^ isnt it more for 18" alloys though, Robins were factory fit 17's and be different pressures?
Im running Vreddesteins, and they reccomend set pressure of 40psi for their assymetric tyres

Yeah i was told that about the vreds. but surely that pressure depends on the weight of the car, not just a gineric pressure for all. I dropped the pressures on mine though to about 34psi

i dont think there is any thing wrong with the car at all , my CCstage 1 ed 30 would spin the wheels in 5 th gear in the wet / greasy roads its just the torque and front wheel drive thats 1 of the reasons i went for the S3 it was that or vwr lsd , S3 intercooler , S3 brakes etc......

....Yes, my GTI was originally on Monza 17's but I think that the label inside the filler cap is the same on Monza 18 cars ex factory.
I'm running GY Assymetrics on OZ 18's at 37psi and all is very good.

Mine says 2.6bar all round for normal use.

Update:
Got me select plus switch today and dropped boost from 7 to 6 much better, also contacted REVO and Kev advised of runningB4, F9 and T6, for a much more linear delivery, tried this and the turbo coming on boost was less agressive and the power delivery was much better at the top end of the rev range (pulled hard right to 7k - better than the previous settings).
So I am going save all these to my switch and it will be like having 3 different cars! :smiley:
