Hi guys
I've read so many posts about this and never seem to find a proper answer? Wat do people recommend OEM pcv valve or a delete kit? Also what do people do about the rear breather pipe some say they got check valves in them and others haven't. I've got the axx engine and if someone could give me some parts numbers for the latest revision of the pcv valve and the rear breather pipe I've got to use that would be great. Thanks

It's really up to you. Choices for:
1) mostly stock(intake and exhaust) and tuned and mostly normal driving...
1) Stick with oem PCV and replace when needed. Keep the breather tube in original state retaining the check valve. If you choose to do a stage 1 pcv block-off plate it is not necessary to remove the check valve from the breather tube unless it makes an annoying puttering noise.
2) moderately to highly modded and more aggressive driving...
2) Keep the oem breather tube and consider a recirculating/'return flow' catch-can.
3) Larger turbo and/or exceeding 23psi, plus maxing out boost often...
3) Remove the breather tube, and cap off the rear port on the valve cover, and set up a VTA catch-can to be one way.
Just my thoughts :happy2:

say my ed30 is running 330bhp with intake ,exhaust and map. would i bet better getting a catch can etc for it ?
-
Latest revision part OEM is the best.
If it's good enough for Hurdy's 500bhp R, it's fine for 330bhp :happy2: seen loads on guys on TFSI tuning Facebook page complaining of poor running & white smoke due to catch cans & PCV deletes. The TFSI just runs best with the PCV in place. . .

That sounds good to me then. What about the rear breather hose is it best to change that for the oem latest revision as well? Any body got part numbers for these items?
-
so im best buying the most recent pcv from vw currently ? cheers for the info.
-
For most of us...yes, it is best to run all the latest OEM bits, PCV and breather tube, unless you are consistently blowing them out due to excessive throttling :happy2:
-
had the delete caused smoke
had the catch can built up too much condensation (short journeys)
back to stock latest rev PCV no problems :happy2:
-
When I bought mine it had a PCV 'Revamp' and catch can fitted, ended up chucking out loads of smoke. Refitted the standard valve and everything is perfect now.

Guess VW got it right from stock... when they revamped the pcv :) cheers for info ill just get a revised one (unless its been done already maby)

I fitted mine today the latest revision is a R

OP...you cannot run the oem PCV with a check valve delete from the breather tube. It will idle high when in 'P' and then rough in gear if you do. The check valve needs to close when off throttle when operating with the oem PCV. The check valve delete is only done optionally when running either the block-off plate or a CC system because they are continuously open at the valve cover. :happy2:
Best to stick with the oem PCV until they fail often and you become fed up...additionally, the revision process has pretty much eliminated its short comings.

Is the main dealers the best place to get the latest revision PCV?
-
Yes...at least to find out the number for the latest revision. If wanting to look elsewhere for a better price...you will have the correct part number.
