Title: Mk5 golf gti turbo problems
Post by: ollyabbs11 on May 27, 2015, 08:01:30 pm
I stalled my car the other day went to restart it and I had no turbo boost. No smoke and wasn't In limp... It seemed noticeabley louder from the exhaust ... No warning lights illuminated. Took to my local vag specialist and he has checked it over supposedly and diagnosed it as the turbo actuator is this a likely problem ?? And says it's either Gonna be a full turbo replacement or turbo has to be reconditioned.. IS there any better solutions if this is the issue ?

Does it sound very likely cheers guys

Did he say stuck or broken ?
See if you can get a second onion at another garage.

Either way i'm pretty sure it's a turbo off to see and confirm.

He just said it isn't opening and closing. Has checked boost pipes around turbo and claims he has checked the diverter valve. the main boost problem I've seen online is the diverter valve
He's said the code he typed in matched the actuator should I ask for any certain information ?

You can replace the actuator with an oem or upgraded forge one without having to change the turbo itself.

Where would I source either of them ? And Is the forge the same as a standard one anything else need upgrading.. For some reason I'm habit doubts he's has a thorough look ! If diverter valve was split would it definitely bring light on? And is there any sensors which would stop boost also

The diverter valve is common but you would still have boost it would just feel like its holding back a bit i have never changed an actuator or a turbo because of failure in the 2-3 years working on golfs at a specialists other sensors such as map or maf would usually bring up some codes or you would notice a deviation in measuring blocks  on vcds.
