Title: Boost gauge kits?
Post by: karl.cee on June 01, 2015, 02:19:13 pm
I recently fitted the Rev D DV after finding my car had little, to no boost. Not surprisingly the original had split (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcc433%2Fsummit-awesome%2Fimage.jpg1_zpsaxlbolof.jpg&hash=a0e1c8e1a8651d0242117afdfe77cafd56005633)
What a difference it made. Since then it feels a tad slow again, not sure if I have just gotten use to it or not, so I thought why not fit a boost gauge.

I am after a full colour coded kit however the only one I can find is the new south kit from awesome GTI with the centre console mount.

Could someone please shine some light on what kits are kicking about?

Preferably colour coded and mounted in the vent closest to the door, thanks.
I did do a search but not much came up :happy2:

I have a New South performance in the vent closest to the door, its perfect as it looks standard lights up all the same as the rest of the dials.
It looks like its meant to be there, nice and understated.

Newsouth are a good bet!

I also have a OSIR vent gauge holder up for sale. Arguably the best vent gauge holders.

PM if interested

The defi gauges do look gorgeous but I think there a little expensive for what I'm after. Sounds like new south are the ones! Thanks  :happy2:

Anyone got a pic of one fitted? Are they hard to plumb in?

I have a newsouth performance boost gauge installed in a vent pod to the right hand side of the steering wheel
Easy to wire up and install - I used an old wire coat hanger to get the vacuum pipe through the wiring grommet in the firewall

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fsdfordyce1978%2FGolf_GTI%2FCIMG7445_zps928451fa.jpg&hash=c9222b8356f34d51aae30eb756ce090722742d86)

Illumination is the same as the standard dials and installation instructions can be found here

Got all my stuff from Awesome GTI - took me less than an hour to install and wire up although I have fitted a couple!
Still retains functionality of the vent too!
