Title: Well that didn't last bloody long did it ?
Post by: Jakesangel on June 03, 2015, 03:56:16 pm: Picked up the car last Friday night from the wheel specialists after getting my 18" Monzas refurbed in a diamond cut finish with black inserts. They looked fantastic by the way.

My wife has just phoned me at work to tell me that she has curbed the nearside rear whist going round the corner. WTF :sad1:

How does that even happen anyway ?

She reckons its about 6 inches long is there anything I can do now to prevent whiteworm etc or will it need another refurb at some point ?

I also need to try and stay calm and pretend I dont want to kill her :fighting:

Post by: dansmith180 on June 03, 2015, 04:19:27 pm: If you put some lacquer on it then it won't whiteworm as quickly but you will have to refurb it again at some point. Be careful though as you can only diamond cut a wheels 3-4 times usually (depending on how much they have to take off)

I've just spoken to a mobile wheel repair firm close to us and he reckons it could be possible to do a "smart repair" if the damage isn't too bad. I've just gotta send a photo to him and he'll give me a quote for a doorstep repair if possible. I really dont want to have a full wheel refurb again

Post by: dansmith180 on June 03, 2015, 05:24:35 pm: I'll be honest mate 99% of smart repairs on a diamond cut wheel will be sh*t. I dont know the guy so can't doubt him but in general they don't 'repair' well and mobile especially the qaulity is normally quite poor when you look closely.

Mine are now 8 years old and never been refurbed
Few minor marks on them that have been touched in with laquer but otherwise stunning
Waxed regular with Autoglym Hd wax
Secret with diamond cuts is looking after them :happy2:

I'm in the dark as far as these things are concerned so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I also appreciate dansmith180 advice and to be honest in my heart that's what I think as well. However, if I can sort it out using the cheaper option i'll try that first as i've just shelled out 400 quid for the wheels. It it turns out that i'm still not pleased after going down the touch up pen route then i'll bite the bullet and get it redone properly. Cheers lads
