Title: Reversing camera issue
Post by: LouCyffer on June 08, 2015, 04:51:42 pm
So, I have:
RNS510 and a reversing camera, both retrofitted items, that have worked faultlessly for some years.

Yesterday I noticed that when I engage reverse, the view on the 510 changes to reversing camera, but after 1-2 seconds reverts to radio/media/nav whichever was displayed before selecting reverse. There is no image of what is behind me, even in that short time. The badge camera dploys normally (I can hear it) and parks normally after the set delay. Today, it is the same. I had hoped that being shut down overnight, it might have cleared itself.

I have a Micro CAN lead, but it is AWOL at the moment so I can't check coding.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

Check the 12v trigger wire is getting a proper 12v feed using a voltmeter. Also check the ground point which is connected to the camera. Might have come loose or something

How old is the camera? I know with my first one one of the cables frayed away over time. It was replaced by another one and I think the design had been changed IIRC.

Cheers guys. MortyGTTDi fitted the loom & camera a long time ago....

Worth looking into both these issues. :happy2:

So, when I took off the boot fascia, I found that the red wire (video feed) has snapped. It looks like it has gradually been weakened by the camera pivoting, until it finally let go.

Arrowed is the stump of where the wire broke on the camera. Just in case anyone has a similar issue. IMHO it's a poor design.
