Title: New clocks
Post by: Vwgtiking on June 12, 2015, 07:07:08 pm
The bottom part of the LCd screen is starting to have a line appear through the mileage and trip part.

I have changed many mk4s and there are different immo and clock specs and variations between the models.

Question is, how easy is to change the clocks and when buying a new set what should I be looking for. I have a 2005 mk5 gti.

If you get a midline one get one with part number ending in 960,961 or 962.

If you get a highline one get one with part number ending in 970,971 or 972..

You can then get someone with vag commander or buy the cable and do it yourself.

Pretty much read immo data from old clocks, save the file,  swap new clocks in,  load the immo and save it and then correct the mileage in the same software.

If you put diesel ones in your maximum rev will only be 6k

Yep,  the clusters are specific for either tdi or petrol.

Why would you want to put tdi dials in a gti anyway? Gti ones look better  lol

No. I was asking if I swapped dials too and upload my petrol eeprom to the tdi clocks.

How easy it to code new midline clocks that are 963 or 964 if mine are 960??? I was hoping to just dump my eeprom into the new clocks??
