Remove the vacuum line from the actuator on the exhaust, and block off the line with a screw (or something sutible) to seal it up, and thats it..

Same for all vacuum operated actuators..

Opens up a different route for the exhaust gas to exit in the rear box.. Just makes it 'sporty' over certain RPM's..

its a diaphragm that controls the noise levels of the exhaust at certain revs to abide by EU regulations, quite at low revs, open and louder at higher revs

disabling the diaphragm (flapper) by removing the vacuum hose, tie it or fold it and zip tie it up onto the bodywork. then as said just block the hole thats left so its airtight

ive done this for loads of people on their .:R32's - in fact if i dig into photobucket deep enough i might still have the step by step photo guide i did for it if you want it?

Pull the black tube out like so

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.golfmkv.com%2Fforums%2Fattachment.php%3Fattachmentid%3D10349%26amp%3Bstc%3D1%26amp%3Bd%3D1178559234&hash=f049e14f1464a69332436f442237077b67b97094)

Simply plug it with a screw or strong tape and away you go. Sounds awesome at low spee

Jonny, I'm in no way disputing what you are saying as I know nothing about the system but, it does seem odd the that actuator is after the silencer, not before it?

Also, are we just assuming that the R36 uses an identical set-up?

Yep. AFAIK it just has a different manifold but same back set up.

I think it just simply lets the 'sound' out of one tailpipe and not both at low revs which you can change by blocking it.

Makes a huge difference, the missus thought it was 'ridiculous' as we drove through reagent street last week  :signLOL:

Just doesn't sound right on an R though does it? Too high pitch - it's the deeper burble of the the R that I love.

Is this to do to Gaz's when his back is turned, or are you thinking of buying a super-sledge like his too?

I drove it back from Wales recently, HUGE fun!

Yeah for gaz's car, had a go of it yesterday it is lovely, i'd read about this mod on r32's so thought it could go well on the r36... You think he'll go for it??

I think i'll give the HUGE fuel and tax bill a miss lol  :scared:

Im sure the miltek sounds better than just the flapper mate. The car sounds the same higher up, just louder lower down.

Yeah, I'm sure he'll do it. Sounds amazing on song eh!

This one's crap on fuel compared to the last one, as its tight as hell, slower too - it just needs its arse kicking for another 10k.

Jules, we're all working on him to make it F/I

Save some cash and just get the Milltek DP.  The OEM rear section is just fine.
