I have just bought a very good condition S3 intercooler with alloy end tanks but I have a choice dilemma on what car I should fit it to, what would you do in my position?
I have a 54 plate A3 tdi (bkd 2.0 litre) daily driver which has boost leaks because of the sh*te connectors so the S3 intercooler is a direct fit and would eliminate the trouble some connectors or I could just fix / replace the standard set-up and....
On the other hand I have a 07 plate edition 30 at APR Stage 1+ with standard intercooler so the S3 ic would also fit directly and improve things.
My plans for the eddy is to go to stage 2+ so from what I've read the S3 ic would be wasted on a 360bhp KO4 car in the summer correct? And therefore I should upgrade to something better in the long run.
Your opinions are welcome.
Mike.

Put s3 ic on the tdi and upgrade the eddy to THS airtek or Apr :happy2:

If you're thinking of tuning the BKD then it'd make sense.
Otherwise just fix the boost leaks and put the S3 cooler on the Eddy. I'd bet it will help your inlet temps no end at 300+ on a K04. It's nice to have a bit of headroom.

I never had trouble with my bkd standard i/c if you need any pipes or oem cooler I have took of mine

Thanks for your replies thus far and two differing opinions which is why my decision is hard to make.
I've wanted to remap the BKD so adding the S3 intercooler would make good sense.
S3 intercooler on anything beyond 300bhp is already at it's limit.
Mmm maybe I've made up my mind in theory??
Your input is very much appreciated.

Go for bigger intercooler mate s3 ic isn't much good for stage 2 on wards on a k04

Hi Maxitrol,
Thanks for your reply, I missed the comment about you having some hoses available for BKD.
I've changed the o-rings but the pipes keep being blown off therefore I think it's a fault with the metal tabs on both connectors being worn.
Can I purchase yours off you if they are in good condition?
Thanks,
Mike.

Hello Mike if you fit the s3 cooler you just cut the metal ends of and just jubilee clip them on as I did with mine,if your still running the oem cooler mine won't fit now due to them been modified sorry for the confusion

Yes I did consider this kit in favour of buying expensive oem hoses y from the Audi, it looks like a nice set-up with the adaptors to run standard intercooler.

I was told a trick to stop the pipes popping off, stick a jubbly clip over the retaining srping, mine have'nt popped off since.

Hey dfish this is a good idea! I will give it a go.
At the moment I have zip ties around the hose and intercooler then strapped ties across each of them but this was unsuccessful.
My Ed30 at stage 1 leaks from these problematic seals as I can see oil on the undertray, the seals have been changed on that too.
