Hi guys,
My current lpfp needs replacing, and I'm currently mulling over going for a TTRS upgrade. Firstly would this be a straight swap onto a mk5 gti AXX engine code?
Also, is it worth doing this upgrade? I'm currently running k03 stage 2, but plan on going k04 stage 2+ at some point in the future... are there any k04 users out there who can confirm they've seen gains when installing the TTRS pump?
Cheers

I have that upgrade and, for me, my fuel gauge reads slightly inaccurately. Not a biggy but annoying!
Given the choice now, I would choose the latest revision oem lpfp vs the ttrs one.

That does sound annoying!
If I was to order a LPFP from dealers, would they get the latest revision one by default or is it something I'll need to specifically ask for?
Also are you running a k04 setup?

Deatschwerks dw65v drop in fuel pump
just fit it to your unit better than the ttrs

If you're going to stage 2+ I know a HPFP is required, I have one myself. If you're mapping shows no fueling issues (AFR etc) why do you need one of these?
Genuinely curious...

My current k03 stage 2 shows the lpfp pressure dropping to under 1bar, already replaced the fuel filter with no luck so next is replacing the failing pump... so I was gauging if it's worth paying the extra £££ and future-proofing myself for when i go K04...
At the moment, not a lot out there to suggest its worth going for the TTRS pump though.

A K04 conversion is classed as stage 3, plus is sounds better to say you have a stage 3 GTI. :happy2:
A LPFP upgrade now wouldn't be wasted, but to really get the most the whole fuelling system needs upgrading so that's also the HPFP and the injectors as well. It would future proof your car but it needs to be factored against how much more it'll cost than an OEM LPFP replacement.
Personally, going to stage 3 I'd say it's worth doing now. Should help maintain good power all through the rev range as the engine should receive as much fuel as requested more consistently.

Ah yes, Stage 3 sounds a lot better than 'k04 stage 2+' :signLOL:
When I go Stage 3, I'd upgrade the hpfp and injectors. Just the LPFP is something that's needed more immediately. Thanks for the advice, I may have to get a few quotes for it.

Ah, I see. More relevant for KO3 vehicles then.

My 2nd tune was a custom tune and the Tuner was unable to get my oem lpfp to raise above 4.0bar because the original oem LPFP was tired. This tuner requested I did the TTRS and a Torqbyte PM3 and then he easily achieved a 5.5bar actual at load and full duty cycle. (After over $1000usd spent, I later found out a new oem LPFP is all it needed.) Yes, the TTRS also makes the gauge never reach 'Full' and I run completely empty when the MFD says I have 5 miles to go before empty. At the time my tune was open loop so that the LPFP = 5.5bar and the HPFP = 142.5bar... and highly unusual requirements from all other off the shelf tunes.
I would suggest running what you have until your data shows that actual falls short of specified...and then stick with the latest oem has to offer. If you see the LPFP actual pressures begin to drop and separate from its target in the data, that is simply signs of pump age. Replace the oem with another one. LPFP upgrades are only needed for big turbo builds and custom tuning. A DW65V is a decent choice if wanting to do an upgrade into the oem basket, but it is unnecessary. Although it produces more volume, it is restricted and will not do any more than 15 amps provided and the pressure required by the control module. And so, the oem LPFP will do that.
I have also seen test results for the DW65v and another 265 LPH pump. Both are able to reach our regulated 6.6 bar with just 11 to 12 amps from our 15 amp circuit. I no longer use the custom tune and went back to the GIAC K04 H.O. tune. My GIAC K04 H.O. tune has a 140 bar rail pressure target and runs great with the just the oem LPFP. My original oem LPFP ran fine until it tired and is running great now. I have eliminated the TTRS and the Torqbyte PM3 because the pump upgrade is hype and the PM3 additional amps aren't needed. The only gains you get from them is proper or required pressure when your oem LPFP has tired and an oem replacement or an upgrade such as TTRS or DW65v only gets your pressure back to its target. No additional HP comes from it.

I have the same issue RE the gauge. Not good for long journeys!

My actual drops to under 1 bar, with specified up around the 4 bar mark IIRC hence the need to replace. I'm quite tempted with the Deatschwerks atm... if it's a drop in replacement, also comes with a 3 year warranty which sounds fair!

I assume this phenomenon has an effect on the MPG as well, but I haven't looked into it much more than making that assumption.

Most likely. It's not ideal. Does this new pump work fine with the oem controller?
-
My TTRS pump? Yes, mine has been flawless for two years now.

I have the TTRS pump too, I meant the aftermarket one (y)

Sorry I missed this all those years ago....yes, a DW65v will work with the oem controller. I have since gotten rid of the TTRS and threw it away while keeping my Torqbyte PM3. I installed a different 265 LPH pump into the original oem basket. But I am going to eliminate the PM3 this week. Not that it's a problem, but because it is unnecessary. Also, my next pump is going to be an oem LPFP. I no longer run the Custom open-loop tune I ran back then. I edited reply #11 to add more I have found out recently; https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,98491.msg971161.html#msg971161
